时间:2013-11-05来源:博士人才网 作者:91boshi

The Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization is an international focused research institute. It performs both experimental and theoretical basic research and occupies about 250 people.

At the department Dynamics of Complex Fluids headed by Prof. Dr. Stephan Herminghaus we seek to fill

Ph.D. and/or Postdoctoral Positions
within a newly established research group in the field of

Experimental Soft Condensed Matter Physics.

We seek highly motivated, outstanding candidates interested in questions about the dynamics of liquid and biological interfaces.

Our group focuses on a variety of microscopy methods such as optical microscopy and atomic force microscopy. They will join an active group involved in international collaborations.

Experimental facilities, travel funds, and interaction with theory groups that develop analytical models and perform numerical calculations will be available.

The successful candidates will design and conduct experiments involving instabilities of complex liquids and the dynamics of passive and active biological systems.

The PhD candidates should have a Master’s degree or comparable degree in physics or in a related subject. A background in the field of soft matter physics is desireable, but not required. Programming skills in Matlab and LabView and expertise with experimental techniques are strongly desirable.

The Postdoctoral candidates should have a solid background in soft matter physics or related subjects. Programming skills in Matlab and LabView and expertise with experimental techniques are required. A Postdoctoral position is limited for two years with the possibility of extension.

Fluency in both written and spoken English is required.

Salary is in accordance with the German state public service salary scale (TVöD-Bund) and the accordant social benefits, or by a fellowship with the Max Planck Society.

The Max Planck Society is committed to employing more handicapped individuals and especially encourages them to apply. The Max Planck Society seeks to increase the number of women in those areas where they are underrepresented and therefore explicitly encourages women to apply.
