英国剑桥大学流体网络系统博士后招收

时间:2013-11-11来源:博士人才网 作者:91boshi

A post-doctoral Research Associate position is available in the Computer Laboratory at the University of Cambridge to work on the Trilogy 2 project.

The goal of Trilogy 2 is aimed at developing a new Internet architecture based on the concept of the liquid network. A liquid system should ideally allow resources including bandwidth, storage and processing to be used by any application, whether they are contributed by network operators, data centre operators or end systems. Resources form a shared pool and applications can scale up and down in multiple dimensions (storage, processing, bandwidth and energy usage) as needed, in a continuous effort to enhance the users' experience as measured in terms of key metrics such as delay and battery life. The project is a continuation of the highly successful Trilogy 1 project, and has been running for just 1 year, and has a further 2 years to run.

You must be prepared to:

- Conduct research into low-latency networking and the hardware/software interfaces involved.

- Architect a suitable set of networking protocols required to support low-latency communications, via (but not limited to) cognitive radio, bloom filters, and ideally to fit into applications models such as pub/sub, peer-to-peer search and discovery.

- Work with PhD students and other colleagues on collaborating coding, and lead the preparation of academic publications on the research activities conducted during the project.

The T2 project is funded by the EU FP7, and more information is available at: http://www.trilogy2.it.uc3m.es

The initial appointment will be for 12 months.

The successful application will work in the diverse and exciting Systems Research Group, under the OCaml Labs initiative. More information is available at http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/projects/ocamllabs/.

Informal enquiries should be directed to Jon Crowcroft (jon.crowcroft@cl.cam.ac.uk) and Anil Madhavapeddy (avsm2@cl.cam.ac.uk).

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Computer Science, with good skills in networking protocols and systems programming. The work will benefit from a competent knowledge of C and a willingness to learn new languages such as OCaml, a strong track-record in the form of previous systems or embedded projects and/or publications in the field.  Good knowledge of English and communication skills are important, as well as a willingness to work with the open-source community and supervise undergraduate projects.

Candidates holding some of the skills and experience mentioned above may be considered for this position but will be appointed on the Research Assistant scale (£24,049 - £27,047).

Applications should include:

A full Curriculum Vitae (resume)
