Postdoctoral Research Fellow
University of Edinburgh -College of Science and Engineering
School of Mathematics
Applications are invited for the post of Postdoctoral Research Fellow in homological algebra and associated areas in the School of Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh. The post is available from 1st April 2013, or a mutually agreed date thereafter, for a 36 months fixed term contract.
The position is funded from the EPSRC grant "The Homological Minimal Model Program" of Dr. Michael Wemyss. The research topic will focus on homological and noncommutative algebra and its interactions with algebraic geometry and commutative algebra, in particular aspects of the minimal model program. Candidates with experience in some, or all, of these fields are encouraged to apply. Although this position is funded from the above grant for which there is already an outline project, the appointee will also be encouraged to pursue his/her own and newly arising research directions.
The appointee will join a thriving algebra and geometry group in Edinburgh, and will become a member of the Hodge Institute.
The starting salary will be in the range of 30,424 to 36,298 depending on experience.
