Applications are invited for an Optical Engineer to work with Professor Daniel St Johnston, Dr Joerg Bewersdorf and Dr Martin Booth on the construction of two super-resolution microscopes in the Gurdon Institute, University of Cambridge. The project is a collaboration between groups in Cambridge, Yale and Oxford to develop new adaptive optical STED and PALM super-resolution systems for live cell imaging and is funded by a Wellcome Trust Strategic Award for the next four years. Applicants should have a PhD in optical engineering or physics. Experience in optical instrument construction is essential and experience in biomedical microscopy or adaptive optics would be an advantage.
The successful applicant will be expected to build two super-resolution systems in Cambridge that duplicate systems that have already been constructed at Yale and the position will therefore require multiple visits to the US.

Limited funding: The funds for this post are available for 4 years in the first instance.
