The Department of Chemistry has two vacant research positions available involving the development of kinetic models of the thermal decomposition of complex polymers based on the existing experimental and literature data. A fundamental tool used is CHEMKIN software.
Responsibilities: Review experimental data and literature for the kinetic parameters; perform computer modelling of the kinetics of the thermal degradation reaction using CHEMKIN software; analyze sensitivity of the developed model and correlation of the model with experimental data; prepare reports and publications based on the developed model; train graduate students in CHEMKIN software use.
Required Qualifications:
BOTH LEVELS: Ph.D. or equivalent degree in chemistry or related field; experience in modeling of the reaction kinetics and knowledge of CHEMKIN software.
SENIOR LEVEL: Three years of related postdoctoral experience.
Special Requirements:
Due to the nature of this position and/or responsibilities, this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67.
Desired Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry with emphasis on kinetics.
