The Center for Environmental Implications of Nanotechnology at the University of California, Los Angeles is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to join a team of interdisciplinary scientists exploring the potential health impacts of engineered nanomaterials in cells, organisms and animal models. The chief objective of the project is a predictive toxicological approach to link nanomaterial physicochemical properties to toxicological outcomes in tissue culture cells (in vitro) and animals (in vivo).
Professors Andre Nel and Tian Xia (Division of Nanomedicine) are looking for highly qualified Postdoctoral Researchers with superior knowledge of Nanomaterial Science, Biology, and Toxicology to perform research linking the bio-physicochemical characteristics of nanomaterials to toxicological outcomes in cells and animals. The successful candidate will possess interdisciplinary skills and hands-on experience in nanomaterial physicochemical characterizations, conducting in vitro cellular experiments using high throughput screening methodologies as well as in vivo animal toxicology studies. Postdoctoral researcher will assist in planning of experiments, development of methodologies, data reduction, and manuscript preparation as part of this project.
Candidates must have completed their PhD in Biology or Toxicology, and have hands-on experience in nanotechnology and nanotoxicology. Applicants who have already served a collective 5 years as a Postdoctoral Researcher at other institutions are ineligible. Position is available immediately for a 1-3 year appointment, contingent on performance and continued availability of funding.
