Postdoctoral Research Fellow (2014)
Postdoctoral Research Fellowships are available on exciting research projects related to the design of Pharmaceutical Biomaterials and Polymer-Engineered Drug Delivery Technologies at the Wits Advanced Drug Delivery Platform (WADDP), Johannesburg, South Africa. We require a Postdoctoral Fellow who has a keen interest in advanced drug delivery research for a period of 2 years, with renewal after 1 year based on performance and progress.

Minimum requirements:
1. PhD obtained within the last 5 years
2. A minimum of 3 articles published or accepted for publication in peer-reviewed ISI journals.
Additional requirements:
Experience with the following would be advantageous:
• Research expertise aligned with current and past projects at the WADDP (http://www.wits.ac.za/waddp)
• Knowledge of computational and mathematical modeling inherent to the performance of drug delivery systems
Stipend and benefits
The Fellowship’s current base rate breakdown is as follows (in South African Rands, “R”):
• Stipend : R154,000 per annum
• Medical Aid : R15,720 per annum
• Relocation Costs : R10,000
Conditions, Duties and Expectations:
1. Only applicants who can commit immediately to the position should apply
2. The salary mentioned above is non-negotiable
3. Successful applicants are to sign a binding contract once the post has been reserved
4. Candidate is expected to undertake focused high quality research and other activities related to the academic programme and the professional development of the individual
5. Undertake innovative research in advanced and globally-competitive drug delivery laboratories employing state-of-the-art equipment and techniques
6. Breaking the frontiers in novel biomaterials, polymers and drug delivery systems design
7. Patenting and potential commercialization of pharmaceuticals
8. Publish a minimum of 2 peer-reviewed papers in ISI-accredited journals
