Applications are invited for an EPSRC-funded postdoctoral position to work with Professor Jacek Brodzki and his team on geometric foundations of persistent cohomology in the context of coarse geometry and coarse-type cohomology theories. This project is part of an interdisciplinary programme to study the geometric, analytic and cohomological structure of large data sets.
You will have a PhD in mathematics, a strong research track record in a relevant area of mathematics and a strong background in coarse geometry, topology, harmonic analysis of discrete groups and metric spaces. You will have demonstrated an aptitude for independent research and have good mathematical programming skills and an interest in possible applications of pure mathematics to practical problems. Experience in topological methods for data analysis, e.g. persistent homology, would be advantageous.
You will be joining a thriving research group within the Pure Mathematics section, which is a leading centre of analytic and geometric methods in Group Theory, and has grown considerably in size in recent years providing a very stimulating research environment.
The position is tenable from 1 March 2014.
