A Post-doctoral Research Fellow is required to work in the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences on the EU funded collaborative SysVasc project. You will be involved in proteome analysis of biological samples, using high resolution LC-MS (Orbitrap) as main research platform. Employment can start as soon as possible and the contract will run for one year with potential for renewal for a maximum of a total of 3 years.
You will work closely with the personnel at the Systems Biology Facility (https://www1.plymouth.ac.uk/research/crtb/Pages/Systems-Biology-Facility.aspx) at the University of Plymouth under the supervision of Dr Antonia Vlahou. You will also collaborate with the other European and international partners of the SysVasc consortium.
Sysvasc is a European funded Integrated Project aiming at finding new therapeutic targets for cardiovascular disease via applying a comprehensive systems medicine approach to elucidate pathological mechanisms. The consortium involves 17 partners and is based on established multidisciplinary European research networks, including specialists in pre-clinical and clinical research, omics technologies, and systems biology from research intensive SMEs and academia.
You must have a PhD in chemistry, biology, or related disciplines, preferably with expertise in quantitative proteomics analysis via contemporary LC-MS approaches. Experience in proteomics/ protein analysis and relevant publications, skills on bioinformatics analysis of molecular data, quantitative and statistical analysis of mass spectrometry data, protein labeling, and experience in scientific presentations will be positively evaluated. Excellent knowledge of the English language is essential.
The project requires several trips per year to European research meetings and international scientific events.
This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a fixed-term basis for 12 months.
