The Department of Biology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham seeks a Microbiologist for a tenure-track position beginning fall 2014. Rank of the appointment is open. Ph.D. and postdoctoral research experience required. The successful applicant will show evidence of the ability to build and sustain a vigorous, externally funded research program, as well as effectively teach both undergraduate and graduate students (M.S. and Ph.D.). We are seeking candidates with research expertise that complements existing strengths in the Department of Biology and across the UAB campus. Attractive research areas include, but are not limited to, microbiome ecology, environmental microbiology, genomics/bioinformatics, and host-pathogen interactions. Preference will be given to those who work in research areas that are interdisciplinary and transformative.
