Post-Doctoral Researcher in Pharmacogenomics

Summary of Job Purpose and Principal Duties
Fixed Term for 24 Months
The person appointed will be a postdoctoral researcher with experience of genotyping, PCR, statistical genetics, large scale genomic data handling, manipulation and statistical analysis.
The successful applicant will work on a translational research project examining genetic modifiers of drug safety and efficacy of medications used to lower cholesterol and blood pressure. This position is full-time, although less than full time working may be considered. It will be located in the Pat Macpherson Centre for Pharmacogenetics and Pharmacogenomics, Medical Research Institute, Ninewells Hospital & Medical School, University of Dundee, and with close links with the College of Life Sciences, University of Dundee and the Division of Immunology, University of Dundee.
Aims of the Project:
The successful applicant will work with a EU wide multidisciplinary team of researchers (http://www.prediction-adr.eu/) conducting genomic research, linking DNA sequence variation to the clinical phenotype as captured by the Electronic Medical Record in the Tayside Bioresource (medicine.dundee.ac.uk/tayside-bioresource). Candidates will be expected to analyse exome-sequencing data and perform high throughput genotyping for multiple SNP’s using the Sequenom Massarray Compact MALDI-TOF analyser in over 30000 individuals and analyse the resulting data in collaboration with the researchers. This will involve data mining of both the genomic and EMR- based phenome data.

The post-holder will work with Professor Colin Palmer (Medical Research Institute, College of Medicine Dentistry and Nursing), They will be working on human samples, and will therefore liaise closely with research nurses and medical staff.
