A one year postdoctoral position will be available at the Department of Bioscience, Aarhus University, Denmark. The successful candidate will work jointly in the research groups of Prof. Jesper Madsen and Prof. Michael M. Hansen, starting 1 November 2014 or as soon as possible.

The appointed postdoc will work on a project aimed at developing genomic resources (SNPs) using RAD sequencing for analysis of pink-footed geese (Anser brachyrhynchus). These resources will subsequently be used for population genomics analyses and for pedigreeing wild populations. This represents a collaboration project between scientists in the sections “Wildlife Ecology” and “Genetics, Ecology and Evolution”, situated in Kalø and Aarhus Campus, respectively. It is essential that the applicant actively participates in both environments. The daily working place will be at Aarhus Campus. The work involves both laboratory work and bioinformatics and population genomics analyses, with major emphasis on the latter. The applicant will also be responsible for coordinating next generation sequencing with relevant platforms.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in evolutionary biology and/or population genetics/genomics and must document good skills in bioinformatics and statistical analysis of molecular markers/population genomic data, and in efficiency of writing scientific papers. Skills in molecular laboratory work are also important. Finally, applicants should be ambitious, show strong capabilities for team-work, and should also be able to take initiatives and responsibility.

Applications should include a CV, publication list, and a 1-2 pages description of research experience and research interests, and the names and contact details of two-three persons who can be contacted for recommendations.

The Department of Bioscience offers an ambitious, scientifically strong but also socially pleasant working environment.
