Postdoctoral fellow position in HIV T Cell Immunology and Vaccine Development available in the laboratory of Dr. June Kan-Mitchell at the University of Texas at El Paso. The human T cell repertoires restricted by classical and nonclassical HLA class I antigens to HIV epitopes will be analyzed by ex vivo priming of naïve T cells from healthy donors and validation in well annotated patient samples. Focus is on novel non-mutated subdominant determinants that are key to the design of effective prophylactic vaccines as well as vaccines that can target reactivated latent viruses to achieve HIV cure. Qualified individuals should have a Ph.D. in immunology. Formal training in immunology required. Laboratory expertise should include general cell culture, multiparametric flow cytometry, cell sorting, T cell assays, etc. Additional experience in T cell culture and molecular techniques relating to lentivector construction is a plus. Salary will depend on relevant experience.
