Two postdoctoral positions are available in a collaborative project between the labs of Barry Dickson (Janelia Research Campus, HHMI), Kristin Scott (University of California, Berkeley) and Mala Murthy (Princeton University). The project aims at a neural circuit analysis (from anatomy to function) of taste and auditory coding. In particular, two postdocs will work first work collaboratively to identify genetic reagents for neurons in the SEZ or AMMC/VLP brain regions of Drosophila – these brain regions are known to be involved in taste perception and taste-responsive motor behaviors or auditory/mechanosensory perception, respectively. The development of these reagents will happen in the first year of the project at the Janelia Farm Research campus, and will take advantage of the genetic tools from the Dickson and Rubin labs at Janelia to generate a comprehensive set of specific driver lines for targeted labeling and manipulation of individual cell types.
