of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Bone Disease is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to work in the laboratory of Dr. Christoph Buettner. Currently, Dr. Buettner’s laboratory focuses on studying the role of the brain in the control of metabolism and inflammation using physiological study techniques such as euglycemic clamp techniques, optogenetics and stereotactic infusions to assess whole body glucose and lipid homeostasis and inflammation. The laboratory is also interested in studying the role of hypothalamic control of hepatic lipid and glucose metabolism in liver and adipose tissue to advance our knowledge of why metabolism is impaired in obesity, diabetes and Alzheimers disease.
Applicants should have a recent Ph.D. and or MD in neuroscience, metabolism or physiology, be highly motivated and productive and dedicated to a research career. The ideal candidate will have experience in either metabolic phenotyping, signaling, or primary cell isolation from adipose tissue and liver. This position is ideal for a recent US PhD graduate who wants to learn new research methods and embark on a successful academic career.
