Postdoctoral Associate-Dissecting Cortical Microcircuits in health and disease. This is a new postdoc position in Dr. Jiang's lab. The laboratory in the Department of Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine and the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute (NRI) at Texas Children's Hospital is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral fellow position. The postdoctoral fellow will work collaboratively within a multi- disciplinary research team aimed at understanding the structure, function and computations of cortical microcircuits in both healthy and disease states. The specific goals of the postdoctoral fellow for this position will be to use large-scale multi-patching method in brain slices, detailed morphological recovery, in vivo whole cell recordings, Ca2+ imaging, single-cell RNA-seq, and optogenetics techniques to 1) map out the circuit diagram of the cortex at the level of cell types across cortical areas and species; and 2) to examine how the circuit diagram is miswired in mouse models of neuropsychiatric diseases, particularly epilepsy and Autism Spectrum diseases.
Qualifications
Education: Ph.D. Required
The ideal applicant should have extensive experience using patch-clamp electrophysiology as their primary research tool. We prefer that they have experience with both in vitro and in vivo preps, or in vitro patching under difficult conditions (multiple simultaneous patching; in adult brain slices, et al .).
Applicants with a research record in molecular genetics, cell biology, or mouse behavior are also encouraged to apply.
Applicants should submit a cover letter stating research experience and interest, a CV and a list of 3 referees as a single PDF file
