Job Description
The Duke Molecular Physiology Institute (DMPI), a part of Duke University Medical Center, occupies a place of national and international leadership in the fight against major diseases. The DMPI is a multi- and inter-disciplinary Institute at Duke University encompassing basic and translational investigators across a variety of scientific disciplines. Our mission is to produce integrated multi-omics and physiologic profiles of chronic human diseases, and to use such profiles to develop new disease detection strategies, novel therapies, and insights into disease mechanisms. The endocrine research group is currently seeking a highly motivated individual for a new Postdoctoral Associate position.
The Postdoctoral Associate will work in the endocrine research laboratory, led by Dr. Jonathan Campbell and Dr. David D’Alessio, in the area of diabetes, islets, and gut-peptide biology. The projects revolve around novel actions of gut-peptides (GLP-1, GIP, glucagon) in the control of glucose homeostasis and energy metabolism. The research platform spans from basic science models, using primary tissue and mouse models, to translational clinical work.
The candidate will minimally require a Ph.D. degree in Biology or a related discipline. Previous experience with animal models, mouse genetics, primary tissue culture, and molecular biology is highly preferred or demonstrated evidence of a mastery of advanced laboratory techniques. Applicants should be able to demonstrate motivation, independence, inquisitiveness, and a strong work ethic. Teamwork and collaboration will be critical for success in this position. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are essential.
To be considered for the position, candidates must apply through Academic Jobs Online.
