 英国癌症研究院招收分子病理学博士后

The Preclinical Modelling of Paediatric Cancer Evolution team led by Dr. Alejandra Bruna is interested in studying the molecular mechanisms underlying paediatric cancer evolutionary processes leading to therapy resistance and relapse. Our goal is to develop a preclinical framework to help identify more efficient and less toxic therapeutic strategies for children with cancer. We aim to use patient-derived in vivo and ex vivo improved preclinical tools to increase our understanding of the biology of the disease and the mechanisms underlying the diversity of drug responses. The group is also interested in studying the molecular mechanisms underlying paediatric cancer evolutionary processes to anticipate and therapeutically challenge the unfortunately too often inefficient drug responses seen in the clinic. We take genomic and functional approaches to delineate molecular mechanisms underlying transcription factor activity and other non-genetic regulatory factors dynamics in cancer evolutionary processes, including relapse of the primary solid malignancy.

We have an opportunity for a talented and motivated postdoctoral training fellow to work on a project studying difficult-to-treat paediatric solid tumours. The postdoctoral fellow will leverage lineage cell tracing coupled with single-cell state-of-the-art technology to understand phenotypic dynamics of treatment resistance and relapse, exploiting in vivo and ex vivo improved patient-derived preclinical models (patient derived tumour xenograft or PDXs and PDX cell cultures or PDTCs, respectively). You will also adapt Luria and Delbruck's fluctuation test and other functional and genomic approaches to study the complex biology of paediatric cancer in the light of evolution in a multidisciplinary approach.

You will have the opportunity to work under your own initiative and apply your excellent problemsolving skills to troubleshoot challenging technical issues. You will drive the project within the laboratory, present your work regularly at the lab meetings, assist in supervision of junior members of the lab and contribute to the successful running of the lab. You will have the opportunity to present your work at leading national and international meetings and will function as the liaison between core facilities at ICR, clinical collaborators and other colleagues in the field.

Applicants will have a PhD and a strong track record of working in a molecular biology or genomics laboratory. You will have a publication track record, with a good, peer-reviewed first author paper, either published or in press. You will be highly organised with a flexible and cooperative approach to working and be able to demonstrate broad practical molecular biology, cell culture and genomics skills. Experience in mammalian cell biology techniques, including cell culture, is essential. Experience in single cell approaches or CRISPR engineering is desirable but not necessary.

Appointment will be on a Fixed Term Contract for 2 years, with a starting salary in the range of £32,200 to £40,100 p.a. inclusive, depending on postdoctoral experience. Future progression is based on annual performance review. Expected start date is 1 May 2020 with flexibility. The successful candidate will be based in Sutton, Greater London.

Informal enquiries are welcome and can be made to Dr. Alejandra Bruna (Alejandra.Bruna@icr.ac.uk). Please note – this address is for enquiries only; applications must be submitted in line with the instructions below.

To apply please submit online application and your CV with bibliography including the supporting statement and a brief description of research experience online at http://www.icr.ac.uk/jobsearch ref.1036
