The role

We are looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow or Research Fellow to join Associate Professor Rebecca Campbell's research team within the Centre for Neuroendocrinology. In this role you will undertake research on a Health Research Council funded biomedical research project investigating the role of androgen excess in the female brain, particularly associated with features of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

You will be appointed to the position of Postdoctoral Fellow or Research Fellow dependent on academic achievement, qualifications, skills and experience.

Responsibilities in this role will include: • Performing neuroscience experiments in model systems to determine the impact of androgen excess in the female brain. • Producing high quality outputs, assist with follow-up data collection and lead the writing of manuscripts. • Staying abreast of the scientific literature in this area and be able to discuss new research avenues and possible extensions to the current project. • Writing first drafts of ethics applications. • Assisting with the training and mentoring of postgraduate students.

Your skills and experience

• Hold a doctoral degree in neuroscience or physiology or allied field. • Have experience with small animal handling and surgery. • Have expertise in neuroendocrinology and neuroanatomy. • Have excellent written and oral presentation skills. • Have outstanding organisational skills. • Have a proven track record of effective scientific communication through publications and presentations. • Be able to engage and communicate effectively with research collaborators. • Take direction, self-motivate and work independently to produce high quality work. • Have an understanding of, and commitment to, the Treaty of Waitangi, particularly in relation to the University environment.
