Title Postdoctoral Fellow - Hematology/Oncology

Specific Title Appointment Type Postdoctoral Fellow Department IUSM - Medicine - Hematology/Oncology Campus IU School of Medicine Indianapolis Position Summary

A postdoctoral position in the laboratory of Dr. Walker is available to work in translational research studies in multiple myeloma. Dr. Walker has an international reputation in the area of genomics and epigenetics of multiple myeloma and seeks a highly motivated individual with a PhD in the area of cell and molecular biology, genomics, epigenetics, cancer biology or related fields to apply. This position will play a key role in determining the function of common mutations in multiple myeloma. The successful candidate will use genomic, epigenetic, and cellular studies to determine the mechanisms leading to aberrant RNA processing in multiple myeloma. Duties or techniques may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  Cell sorting by flow cytometry or magnetic beads

  Cell culture

  Lentiviral transduction

  Generation of vectors and reagents

  Western blotting, cellular and protein analysis.

  ChIP-seq

  CRISPR/Cas9 mutagenesis

  Animal models

  Drug sensitivity assays

  Maintaining accurate records of experiments and results

  Communicating with other team members and senior departmental members

  Presenting data locally and at national and international meetings

Basic Qualifications

The candidate should be highly motivated with a PhD in the area of cell and molecular biology, genomics, epigenetics, cancer biology or a related field. The candidate must be diligent, rigorous, able to work independently, approachable, and have an attention to detail. A basic knowledge of bioinformatics would be an advantage.
