Postdoctoral Scientist

The Postdoctoral Scientist works closely with Professor Robert Entman, Shapiro Professor of Media and Public Affairs, and Kimberly Gross, Associate Professor of Media and Public Affairs, conducting research focused on the politics and policies of inequality using content analysis of media and experimental research. This is a one-year position beginning August 1, 2013 and ending July 31, 2014.
Minimum Qualifications:Must have a Ph.D. in communication, political science or a related discipline by August 1, 2013.
Desired Qualifications:Must have an excellent record of published research in political communication or a record suggesting great promise as demonstrated by scholarly works in progress and recommendations.
Preference will be given to individuals with extensive experience in quantitative content analysis. Background and training in experimental methods is highly desirable.

Job Duties
Function:
Conducts research on media coverage of the politics of and polices related to inequality using quantitative content analysis of news media texts. Conducts research on media effects utilizing experimental designs.
Function:Oversees the analysis of datasets and documentation of results.
Function:Prepares and publishes scientific papers under the direction of the supervisor.
Function:Performs other work-related duties as assigned. Omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
