Postdoctoral Research Scientist – Immunology
Location: Translational Gastroenterology Unit, University of Oxford, NDM-Experimental Medicine Division, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford
Salary Scale Grade 7: £29, 541 – £36,298 per annum
A Postdoctoral Research Scientist position is available as part of a collaboration between Dr. Holm Uhlig and Professor Fiona Powrie’s Mucosal Immunology Group. The successful applicant will join a dynamic and successful group studying immune regulation in the intestine and how this may break down in inflammatory bowel disease. The post will be held in the newly established Translational Gastroenterology Unit (TGU) at the John Radcliffe Hospital that brings together scientists and clinicians with the objective of applying fundamental research in mucosal immunology to the understanding and treatment of gastrointestinal disease to investigate genetics of IBD and to study potential therapeutic applications of interfering in pro-inflammatory and regulatory pathways. You will be involved in a large genetics program aiming to understand the immunology of intestinal inflammation.
You will be an enthusiastic, motivated, highly organised postdoctoral researcher possessing knowledge and experience in cellular or molecular immunology with an ability to produce work to a high standard. You will have a PhD in immunology or related sciences together with an interest in genetics of inflammatory bowel disease. Proven research skills in cellular immunology with specific knowledge of translational medicine and/or clinical research together with excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also essential capabilities for this post.
