One postdoctoral fellowship for one year with possibility of renewal is available in the group working on splicing at the Laboratory of Rare Genetic Diseases-InsermU827 in Montpellier, France. We are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral scientist to join our team involved in splicing regulation of the Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) gene. This research project aims to develop large-scale screenings of cis-acting sequences and trans-acting factors involved in splicing regulation of the DMD pre-mRNA in normal conditions, but also to dissect the molecular mechanisms of DMD disease-causing mutations that disrupt splicing. Contributing to a better knowledge of the regulatory elements controlling the splicing process in the DMD gene is of major importance for the splicing-based therapies currently in clinical trials for DMD.
The successful applicant will have a recent PhD or post-doc position in a relevant field, a strong academic record, and solid experience in molecular and cellular biology, ideally with a background in RNA biology and skills in cell culture. Interest and publications in human genetic diseases would be appreciated. To apply, please send a CV with full supporting documentation (publication list, names for two references, a statement of research interests) to Sylvie Tuffery-Giraud.
Starting date: September 2013
Application Deadline: applications should be sent before July 3rd, 2013.
