Job Description
We are recruiting a post-doctoral fellow to carry out and guide research on NIH and Department of Defense funded projects within the laboratory of Dr. Jared Bushman and to facilitate aspects of an online pathophysiology course. Ongoing research projects in Dr. Bushman's laboratory fit into two broad categories; to stimulate regeneration of the damaged nervous system and to improve immunosuppressive therapy for individuals with vascularized compositive allograft. The successful candidate will begin work in an ongoing research project with the latitude to initiate additional research projects and new directions. This position is ideal for individuals seeking to continue their research success while gaining teaching experience that leads toward a tenure track job, which is what occurred with the previous holder of this position.Qualifications: A PhD is required. For research qualifications, the ideal candidate will be experienced in tissue culture, molecular biology, histology, animal surgery and strong manuscript writing skills. A background in or working knowledge of immunology is preferred, but flexibility in discipline is understood. For teaching, the successful applicant must have excellent communication skills in English and the appropriate educational and research background to facilitate case studies within an online pathophysiology course that will complement pre-recorded lectures by Dr. Bushman.
