德国弗里德里希亚历山大大学埃尔兰根 - 纽伦堡博士后职位

时间:2018-11-20来源:中国博士人才网 作者:佚名

One doctoral and one postdoctoral position (m/f) in biophysics

The Dulin lab has one fully-funded postdoctoral position (two years) and one fully-funded doctoral position (three years) available in the field of biophysics for studying interactions between proteins and nucleic acids. The successful candidates will investigate genome-processing machines, such as cellular and viral RNA polymerase, using state-of-the-art single-molecule techniques such as magnetic tweezers and total internal reflection fluorescence microscopy. Within the lab, the successful candidates will perform experiments and develop new computational analysis tools to characterize, for example, how DNA is transcribed into RNA or viral RNA is replicated, at the single-molecule level.

  Qualifications:

  We seek to appoint

  ·         outstanding researchers with practical experience in biophysics, physics and/or molecular biology. Experience in optics and computer programming (LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB, C++…) would be greatly appreciated.

  ·         creative and hard-working individuals that have a strong interest in interdisciplinary research fields.

They will successfully develop and combine their expertise in physics, biology and software programming to understand the fundamental steps in genome transcription and replication. Proficiency in English (both spoken and written) is required.

  Environment:

The Dulin lab is one of the junior research groups at the Universitätsklinikum Erlangen supported by the Interdisciplinary Center for Clinical Research (IZKF). The successful candidates will join a young and enthusiastic team of biophysicists and biochemists ready to tackle exciting problems related to genome expression and maintenance using single-molecule techniques, e.g. magnetic tweezers and single-molecule FRET. They will have access to an imaging facility (OICE), to a state-of-the-art magnetic tweezers apparatus, to a molecular biology facility and to the technical support of an experienced molecular biologist. They will have the opportunity to present their work at international conferences and to participate in summer schools in order to develop their scientific skills.

The Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) is located in Erlangen and Nuremberg in the north of Bavaria and is part of the Medical Valley. FAU is one of the best universities in Germany, recently being ranked amongst the most innovative universities in Europe.

In its pursuit of academic excellence, FAU is committed to equality of opportunity and to a proactive and inclusive approach, which supports and encourages all under-represented groups, promotes an inclusive culture and values diversity. FAU is a family-friendly employer and is also responsive to the needs of dual career couples.

  Application

The preferred starting date is 7 January 2019. The two positions will remain open until filled. The salary is in accordance with the German federal public service salary scale (TV-L). To apply, please send a cover letter (one page max), a Curriculum Vitae (two pages max), a publication list, a transcript of records giving the grades achieved in your Master’s degree, and the contact details of two references to Dr. David Dulin (david.dulin@uk-erlangen.de). All the documents must be written in English.
