美国弗朗西斯·克里克研究所计算生物学博士后招聘

Job title: Postdoctoral Training Fellow

Location: The Francis Crick Institute, Midland Road, London

Contract:Fixed-term, 4 years

Full time

Salary:Competitive with benefits, subject to skills and experience

Vacancy ID: 11846

Short summary

We seek a talented and motivated postdoc in computational biology to join the Cancer Genomics laboratory of Peter Van Loo. The group is dynamic, collegial, international and highly interdisciplinary, with members from a wide range of backgrounds, including biomedical sciences, genetics, medicine, biochemistry, physics, bioinformatics and engineering.

Project Scope

The Cancer Genomics laboratory was established in October 2014. Its research focusses on large-scale pan-cancer genomics to gain insight into the genes, mutational processes and evolution of cancer. Our work is highly data-driven, with a focus on large-scale data analysis to gain broad biological insight, and on the development of computational methods to enable conceptually novel analyses. The research group is mostly computational (currently three postdocs and three PhD students with very diverse backgrounds), with a small wet-lab component (one senior laboratory research scientist). Recent research successes include studies of tumour evolution (Gerstung et al., Nature, in press; Demeulemeester et al., Genome Biology 2016), tumour suppressors (Cheng et al., Nature Communications 2017), and intra-tumour heterogeneity (Tarabichi et al., Nature Genetics 2018). More information about the group can be found here: http://www.crick.ac.uk/peter-van-loo.

The successful candidate will have the freedom and responsibility to develop and lead an ambitious project within the remit of the three main research programmes in the group:

1.       Cancer genes and mutational processes in cancer, with a focus on identifying novel rare cancer genes through approaches building upon copy number analysis, and on identifying and characterising mutational processes underlying complex structural variants and copy number changes in cancer.

2.      Molecular archaeology of cancer: inferring the life history and subclonal architecture of cancer, (i) from whole-genome sequencing data in a large-scale pan-cancer setting, and (ii) combining bulk sequencing and single cell sequencing, characterising intra-tumour heterogeneity in minute detail.

3.      Deconvolution of tumour and normal transcriptomes and methylomes from bulkRNA and bisulfite sequencing data, and development of approaches to leverage these data to study intra-tumour heterogeneity and tumour evolution.

About us

The Francis Crick Institute is a biomedical discovery institute dedicated to understanding the fundamental biology underlying health and disease. Its work is helping to understand why disease develops and to translate discoveries into new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, stroke, infections, and neurodegenerative diseases.

An independent organisation, its founding partners are the Medical Research Council (MRC), Cancer Research UK, Wellcome, UCL (University College London), Imperial College London and King’s College London.

The Crick was formed in 2015, and in 2016 it moved into a new state-of-the-art building in central London which brings together 1500 scientists and support staff working collaboratively across disciplines, making it the biggest biomedical research facility under in one building in Europe.

The Francis Crick Institute will be world-class with a strong national role. Its distinctive vision for excellence includes commitments to collaboration; developing emerging talent and exporting it the rest of the UK; public engagement; and helping turn discoveries into treatments as quickly as possible to improve lives and strengthen the economy.
